Strong composition, with very effective compartmentalization of elements;
Strong subjective color – the smudging & textures at the top marry the flat and 3 dimensional planes in an interesting way;
Interesting and idiosyncratic drawing – wiggly drawing makes it seem more organic and less mechanical – it calls up the artist’s hand;
Composition and color exert powerful psychological overtones – in addition to the overtly symbolic reference to blood, the lack of people or their presence pulls the viewer into the picture;
This work is deceptively richer than at first glance – with great economy, it provokes one’s involvement.
All in all, this is a very successful work.
